President Weah during his sixth State of the Nation Address on January 30, 2023, told the audience that the Gbarnga to Salayea and the ELWA to Coca-Cola factory and other road projects were in full swing.
Speaking on the Truth Breakfast Show at Truth FM Tuesday morning, Dr. Monica who happened to be the son of Liberia’s former Vice President Dr. Harry F. Moniba said he was the head of the Project Management Unit and was present during the signing and funding for both the Gbarnga to Salayea road, the ELWA to Coca-cola road and other road work across the country.
Despite his efforts, he says the road should have been completed ever since and not to be still under construction.
“On the Lofa road, I’m proud to say that as head of the project management unit, I helped to implement the project. The road from Gbarnga to Salayea is currently being built right now. I am proud of the role I played to have the Lofa road built. But that road should have been completed by 2020, it’s now 2023. That road should have been finished by now, for it to be halfway done in 2023, is wrong. We don’t have time to waste. The ELWA to Coca-cola factory
the road should have been finished in 2019,” Dr. Monica says.
He added: “President Weah has been in office for the past five years. Why is it that all these projects that were signed and funded five years ago are the ones he is talking about?”
According to the Presidential hopeful, President Weah should be talking about new initiatives and new projects and not what he inherited from the previous administration.
Moniba added: “Paving 20 miles of road every year is not progress for Liberia. Liberian people must realize that the country we have right now is not good enough for Liberians.”
Dr. Moniba is a former Liberian government officialHigh-Leveld is the youngest person in the country’s history to be named Minister of State without Portfolio, as well as the Chairman of the Board of the Liberia Electricity Corporation.
