Monrovia – Paynesville most notorious gang group Kubah, leader Varney Kiazolu alias Azonto along with five others have spent their first behind bars at the Monrovia Central Prison commonly known as South Beach.
Azonto and his accomplices were sent to prison (South Beach) by Magistrate Jomah Jallah of the Monrovia City Court.
They were forwarded to the Monrovia City Court on Tuesday by Liberia National Police for prosecution for the alleged commission of the crimes of criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, criminal facilitation, armed robbery and criminal attempt to commit murder.
However, speaking to Judicial Reporters on prisoner’s bench at the Monrovia City Court, Azonto vowed to recruit more members for the gang group (Kubah) in prison.
“By me going to jail is like making me to mobilize more masses that are in jail. If I go back to jail again, I’m going to mobilize more because I need to change their minds,” Azonto said.
Azonto explained that he established the gang, ‘Kubah’, in prison two years ago to transform the lives of under privileged youths in the country.
Responding to a question about his support base, he said: “My support comes through loyalty, people that see my way of moving and interactions like the business people, money exchangers, drugs dealers and others.”
Azonto, however, pleaded for mercy on the allegation stating: “I am just asking for mercy because I have no bad intents, I have no bad mindset about the country.”
