MONROVIA – Partner in Health (PIH) Liberia on Tuesday January 9, 2024 donated assorted medical items to the Ministry of health for victims of the Totota fuel tanker fire expulsion in Bong County.

The donation according to the organization, is in support of the remediation aftermath of the event in the way they can to buttress the ministry of health efforts during these difficult times.
The donation is valued at fourteen thousand six hundred and fifty-seven united states dollars ($14,657). In addition to the donation, Partner in Health says they are also exploring bringing on board a cross-site mental health specialist to work alongside the mental health unit to provide mental health support to the affected victims and families.
“On behalf of PIH Liberia’s Executive Leadership team, I want to extend my deepest condolences to all of the families affected by the Totata fuel tanker fire expulsion in Bong County that took place December 26,2023. I also want to present our sympathy to your ministry and the country at large in such a tragic manner and to thank you for your leadership during this crisis.
On the invitation of the Liberian government ten years ago, partner in health (PIH) joined the international efforts to respond to the Ebola outbreak here in September 2014, building on its SSs staff, stuff, space, system and social assistance approach.
The PIH’s “SS” approach to building a health care platform that delivers comprehensive services and addresses the root causes of disease distinguishes it from others. “We are cognizant that improving health system performance and outcomes for all Liberians will only be possible with strong national plans, and we are working to accompany the ministry of health is designing policies and programs, coordinating health financing, building a health workforce and mobilizing.”
The partner in health has also expressed commitment to developing a rural healthcare delivery model that links community and facility-based care, and the ministry in building delivery system that increase healthcare access, utilization and quality for all those who needs it the most.
