The LPDP is a constituent member of the tripartite arrangement that gave birth to the Coalition for Democratic Change.
News of the Minister’s resignation was broken by the Executive Mansion late Tuesday evening and has since been trending on social media.
Commenting on the matter, Mr. Kollie said he has only been following the information on social media, but has not received any communication to the effect from Minister Blamoh.
“I am not aware of such information, I only got to hear about it through social media. I haven’t received any communication to that effect,” he said.
The Executive Mansion quoted Minister Blamoh as saying, “the decision will allow him focus on his duties as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs amid preparation for the 2023 Presidential and general elections.”
All efforts to contact the Minister through text messages and calls didn’t materialize.
Former House Speaker, Alex Tyler, the political leader of the party, has said the resignation of Mr. Blamoh who sits in the office of President George Weah is not a surprise to many especially with the recent rigmarole between his political institution (LPDP) and that of President George Weah CDC.
In an effort to reignite the 2017 forces for the 2023 Presidential elections, there has been public disagreement between some members of the tripartite about ways the new framework document is structured and the need to restructure in a way that has every member interest taken into serious consideration.
Former Speaker Tyler and his chairman Kollie seem to be on different sides of the coin especially in agreement to President Weah’s CDC proposal for a renew coalition that will take them to the 2023 Presidential and general elections.
Though Chairman Kollie has gone ahead to sign the document in the absence of his political leader, Mr. Tyler, insists that Wednesday’s signing of the Framework Document by his party’s National Chairman reaffirming the party to the tripartite political marriage with President George Weah’s Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and the National Patriotic Party (NPP) would be scrutinized upon his return to the country.
During the signing ceremony, the LPDP Chairman said the decision to sign was made by two-thirds of the executive committee members of the party which is the highest decision-making body of the party.
“The party made a decision and I am speaking as a party disciplined. The constitution, including the National Elections Commission’s guidelines, says two-thirds of the party members are required to sign, but we had almost 85 percent of the executive committee signed into the document and we had almost 99 per cent of the executive committee members accompanying us to do the signing,” he noted.
“There will always be issues, but as leaders we must find a way to resolve our issues so it doesn’t break us apart,” he continued.
“Every political party in the world the executive committee is the highest decision-making body in the absence of a convention,” he said.
