The leadership, members, and supporters of Liberty Party USA (LPUSA) congratulate the Political Leader of Liberty Party, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, on her ascension to the office of Senate Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate.
In a statement, they pledge the full support of the Liberty Party USA family and task her with more than just the responsibility of the party, expressing confidence that she will deliver in the interest of the country.
“We are confident you will put the needs of our country above all else, in the same manner with which you have put our party above your own needs.
“We are proud of this accomplishment, as well as the grace and character with which you continue to lead your personal, professional, and political life. You have shown women across Liberia and the diaspora that it is possible to obtain monumental achievements without compromising one’s integrity and personal values.”
The Liberty Party Diaspora partisans also praise Senator Karnga-Lawrence for exhibiting quiet strength, strong resolve for doing what’s right, and unyielding resilience in the face of countless challenges.
“Once again, congratulations on this major milestone. May God give you the emotional strength, wisdom, and political acumen to lead the Senate in delivering value to our beloved country.”
Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence was elected as Senate Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate on a white ballot. The election was held during the opening of the 55th Legislature. Prior to today’s opening, Sen. Karnga-Lawrence secured the support of the majority members of the Senate, who had already signed a resolution. Senator Karnga-Lawrence’s overwhelming victory came to realization when her Grand Bassa colleague, Gbehzohngar Milton Findley, respectfully declined his nomination as a candidate for the Pro-temp position, thus giving a White Ballot win to Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence.
Her election to the post was a reward not only for leading a robust campaign that ensured victory for the Unity Party Alliance but also for standing with President-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai when major allies abandoned the cause, putting his presidential ambitions at risk. She becomes Liberia’s second female President Pro Tempore of the Senate after Grace Beatrice Minor, an Americo-Liberian politician who served as the first female President Pro Tempore of the Senate from 2002 to 2003. She was a senator for Montserrado County.
