The Liberian Board of Nursing and Midwifery on Saturday, December 30, 2023, donated 20 bags of 25kg rice to the Phebe Hospital in Bong County. The donation comes following appeals from the hospital’s administration for medical and non-medical supplies to cater to victims of the recent gas tanker explosion in Totota, Lower Bong County.

Making the presentation, the Registrar of the Liberian Board of Nursing and Midwifery, Madam Cecelia Kpangbala-Flomo extended sympathy to the families of the deceased.
“When we heard and saw on social media about the Totota tragedy on December 26, we knew that the Phebe hospital was going to have a huge challenge to address the situation in time, with that, we have come on behalf of the LBNM, we want to say thank you to the management of the Phebe hospital and brought a little of 20 bags of rice as our appreciation and contribution of everything you’ve been doing to treat the victims,” Madam Kpangbala-Flomo said.
Adding that the LBNM is concerned about the well-being of the victims and expressed sorry and appreciation to all of the health workers of Bong County for their pivotal role in ensuring the recovery of all victims.
Taking delivery of the rice, Phebe Hospital Medical Director, Dr. Minnie Sankawulo-Ricks described the gesture as appropriate and thanked the Nursing and Midwifery for the timely response.
Dr. Ricks used the occasion to appeal for additional supplies to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to feed and provide medical care for the patients.
