MONROVIA – Renowned Liberian humanitarian and emerging political figure, Karishma Pelham-Raad, has been honored alongside esteemed female Liberians – former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee – as one of the most influential women in Africa.
These distinguished Liberian women, among others across the continent, were recognized by New Africa Magazine in its 2023 edition, which champions authentic and inspiring narratives that reflect the vibrant essence of Africa.
In its publication, New Africa Magazine stated, “We proudly recognize the extraordinary achievements of women across Africa who have not only shattered barriers but have also emerged as visionary leaders, catalysts for change, and innovators in their respective fields. This celebration acknowledges their significant impact in shaping the narrative of progress and advancement across Africa.”
From groundbreaking innovations in Science and Technology to transformative leadership in business and reshaping narratives, these women have played pivotal roles in shaping the African continent as a whole. Their dedication and commitment have not only earned them acclaim but have also inspired positive change throughout Africa. This acknowledgment highlights their impactful contributions across diverse sectors, solidifying their status as true beacons of progress.

Other notable African women on the list include Wangari Maathai (Kenya), the environmentalist and Nobel laureate; Amina J. Mohammed (Nigeria), the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Nigeria), the Director-General of the WTO; and Graça Machel (Mozambique), a humanitarian and former First Lady of Mozambique.

Pelham-Raad, a radio personality, entertainment icon, and Chief Executive Officer of HRH Charity Foundation, has garnered numerous awards for her exceptional humanitarian work and contributions to Liberia’s entertainment industry.
In 2023, she ran as a candidate for Representative in Liberia’s presidential and legislative elections.
