Monrovia – Lennart Dodoo, the News Desk Chief at FrontPageAfrica, has formally lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police, Col. Patrick Sudue, concerning a direct threat to his life and professional well-being made on Facebook.
In a letter addressed to Inspector General Sudue, Dodoo details the concerning incident involving an individual identified as Teika Kpakolo (Kelvin). According to Dodoo, Kpakolo posted a threatening message on Facebook directed towards him on November 13.
The Facebook post in question reads: “Lennart Dodoo so you market your integrity for small money that Brother Fallah gave you, if anything happens in our county. Take my statement to the bank. We are going to come after you.”
Dodoo interprets this message as a clear and direct threat to both his personal safety and his work as a journalist. He acknowledged that while criticism is expected in his line of work, threats of violence and intimidation are unacceptable in a democratic society that values freedom of expression and the press.
Dodoo noted in his letter that this incident is not an isolated one, as he has faced threats from followers of politicians in the past. However, the explicit nature of Kpakolo’s message has heightened his concerns, leading him to seek the intervention of the Liberia National Police.
The journalist requested a thorough investigation into the matter, urging the police to take appropriate action to ensure his safety and that of his family. He emphasized the importance of addressing this issue promptly to prevent any further escalation, particularly during the ongoing electioneering period.
He expressed willingness to cooperate fully with any investigation and provide additional information if required.
