According to the torch bearer of Team Koinah, the project stems from a consistent plead from residents of the bustling mining sector that they’re in a dire need of safe drinking water, something he noted has the propensity of risking the lives of the over 5,000 inhabitants in the area.
Speaking at the commencement of the project during the week, Hon. Koinah indicated that for too long the people of David Dean Townhave been confronted with the issue of purified water with absolutely no intervention from Multi-million Concession Company MNG-Gold, the district lawmaker or philanthropists.
Koinah has emphasized the need for modernization stressing the significance of implementing sustainable projects that will hugely impact the livelihood of the locals.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Team Koinah stated that materials for the water projects include three giant sized poly tanks, faucets, and a fountain and the entire reservoirswill be powered by a four thousand five hundred (4,500) wattsSolar system to help distribute water to approximately seven communities.
“This multimillion water project is the first of its kind in Bong County.I want electoral district one to be the model of development in the county and that’s why I’m not constructing hand-pumps but rather a reservoir to distribute purified water to every home and it will serve not less than 5,000 dwellers in the concession area.” Hon. Koinah asserted
The pilot project is expected to extend to other major towns and villages within the districtand will be dedicated and used before the conduct of the October polls.
He has however clarified that the project is part of his myriad humanitarian initiatives and it is void of politics but it is meant to improve the living condition of his people.
At the same time, Mr. Obediah Zorh, a businessman residing in the mining town intimated that since the operation of the extractive industrial town in the 1800, miners and residents have suffered waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, and other related illnesses due to lack of safe drinking water.
David Dean Town is a commercial hub with an estimated population of over 5,000 inhabitants and it hosts the Turkish Mining Company MNG- Gold. Moreover, hand-pumps and boreholes dry out during the droughtthus leaving occupants with no option then to fetch water from running creeks.
For her part, Naomi Gargay, an elderly lady of David Dean Town has thanked Hon. Koinah for what she termed as a milestone development.
“I am of age and have lived in this community for over 15years but I haven’t seen or heard of any politician or the company assisting us with pipe borne water. I want to tell Prince Koinah thank you very much for this project.” Naomi Gargay exclaimed.
In a related development, Hon. Prince K. Koinah has revealed the electrification of the Gbarta Clinic, Gbencohn Clinic, Yolo Town Clinic, Botota Clinic, Nyahnquoi Bee Public School and the construction of several intellectual centers across Electoral District One.
