Monrovia – The Liberia Association of Chinese Trained Scholars (LACTS) has praised the outgoing Ambassador of China to Liberia Ren Yisheng for his stance on the One-China Policy and his impact on the youth and student community in Liberia.

LACTS is a Non-for-Profit Professional organization comprising graduates from various universities and others who completed some short-term courses or training in the People’s Republic of China.
The organization was established in 2012 with the primary purpose of uniting for the common goal of development and progress in Liberia.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with FrontPage Africa, the president of the organization, Mr. Filmore Wiagbe commended the Ambassador for what he termed as an excellent relationship over the years.
According to Mr. Wiagbe, the continuous support from the Chinese Ambassador towards the leadership of LACTS will never be forgotten.
LACTS president furthers mention the numerous support Liberians have benefited from the Liberia-China relations, especially in the education sector.
“China over the years has given many Liberians scholarship opportunities through the Chinese Scholarship Council, MOFCOM scholarship as well as the Ambassador’s scholarship.
Recipients of these scholarships who are also members of LACTS are tremendously contributing to the growth and development of Liberia.
“Amb. Ren will always be remembered for his good working relationship with other diplomatic missions near Monrovia and his. The Ambassador has always stressed the need to maintain the One-China Policy and strengthen the relationship between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Liberia,” he said.
LACTS president Wiagbe added: “Ambassador Ren served as keynote speaker during the inauguration of the current administration in 2021, during that event, the Chinese Embassy through his office made a cash donation to the organization, a clear sign of support and cooperation.”
Wiagbe stressed that through the office of the Chinese Ambassador, his organization was able to carry out the Liberian Association of Chinese Scholars’ Annual Humanitarian outreach.
“China has always been a good friend to Liberia with continuous support to Liberia in various sectors; road infrastructure, health, Energy, Agriculture, culture, and Education.”
According to LACTS president, Liberia – China cooperation has helped in maintaining peace and stability something he says is positively contributing to the current government Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.
“We only hope that the bilateral cooperation will strengthen trade and economic ties between both countries,” Mr. Wiagbe stressed.
