The community interaction, spanning over four hours, commenced from GSA Road Junction near ELWA Junction, extending to the intersection connecting GSA Road with Duport Road and Rehab. During the tour, Cummings and Brumskine distributed campaign materials, including stickers and flyers, and held conversations with a diverse group of voters, including the elderly, first-time voters, motorbike and Keke riders, as well as taxi drivers.
With the upcoming presidential and legislative elections just two months away, political parties are ramping up their campaign efforts nationwide, drawing large crowds to rallies characterized by musical performances and speeches.
Cummings has taken a distinctive approach to his campaign activities in Montserrado by personally visiting voters in their communities and engaging with them directly. On this tour, he has been accompanied by enthusiastic supporters, many of whom rush to embrace him for hugs, handshakes, and fist bumps.
During Saturday’s march, hundreds of predominantly first-time voters joined Cummings and his entourage, displaying banners and chanting pro-Cummings slogans. Addressing the first-time voters, Cummings urged them to believe in their ability to bring about change and encouraged them to cast their votes in support of himself, Brumskine, and Kollah.
He said, “To the young people and first-time voters, you are the future of Liberia. And it is because of your votes that we will win District #6, we will win the President’s district, and we will put Alexander Cummings and Martin Kollah on Capitol Hill. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless Liberia.”
Cllr. Brumskine echoed this sentiment, rallying young people to elect Alexander Cummings, assuring them that she would be an instrumental partner to Cummings if elected.
“Mr. Cummings is the right choice for Liberia. He has the experience and what it takes to improve your lives for a bright future. You will go to school, learn the right skills, and improve your business. I am only here to lend my support, and that’s what I will do when you elect us come October,” she affirmed.
Mr. Kollah expressed optimism in the party’s chances in the October elections, attributing the massive turnout and strong support to the resonance of Cummings’ message among the electorate.
Joshua Davies, a staunch Cummings supporter and a first-time voter, cited Cummings’ impressive track record and experience as reasons for his support.
Joshua Davies, an ardent Cummings’ supporter and a first-time voter said he is impressed with his (Cummings) track record, and with his experience, he is confident that if given the opportunity, Cummings will be a great president.
Said Davies: “I am always fascinated by Mr. Cummings. Looking at his record. Coming from Liberia and becoming Vice President of one of the largest private companies in the world tells you that he can lead and serve in any position and succeed. That’s why I am supporting him.”
Cummings’ community tours have been marked by warm receptions since its kickoff last week in Districts 10. On Tuesday, the CPP Standard Bearer, accompanied by hundreds of partisans, supporters, sympathizers, and well-wishers, visited District #10, Montserrado County, amidst massive jubilation by residents, marketers, shop owners, and citizens who welcomed his visit and shouted slogans like, “Cummings is the man we want.”
The next day on Wednesday, he received a warm welcome from hundreds of residents of District #14, which includes Vai Town, Gibraltar, Clara Town, Cow Factory, Abuja, and the Doe Community on Bushrod Island. It was the same on Thursday, August 24 when he stormed the Borough of New Kru Town.
The campaign continues in other parts of the Montserrado this week before kicking off the tour of the counties.
