Liberia Returnee Network is an organization formed by ex-refugees who returned to Liberia after the long civil unrest. The Liberia Returnee Network was established in 2012 to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Liberia. In 2014, the vocational training program was launched and began full operation on January 9, 2015.
Emmanuel Tyrone Marshall is the Executive Director of the Liberia Returnee Network. Speaking with FrontPage Africa after receiving the donation, the LRN boss said the vehicle is going to help his team get to some of the far-to-reach communities in the country.
“We are in Montserrado, Bomi, and Bong counties but we want to be in the 15 counties because hands-on careers have been a problem for Liberians, and it was what we brought back to Liberia. With this vehicle, we will be able to reach other far-to-reach counties,” Marshall said.
He added: “LRN is so grateful to Bread for the World for the opportunity given to us. It is going to serve humanity.”
According to him, getting to project sites in rural Montserrado County and other parts of the Liberia have been a major challenge for the LRN.
“Getting to our project site was very difficult and so we requested this vehicle and today that we have it, we can safely say that we will do more,” Marshall said.
He added: “We started in Montserrado and its environment and now we are in rural Montserrado and even out of Montserrado. We needed a project car and our partner; Bread for the World was able to make this project car available for us to be able to get to those project sites. Knowing that our roads are not too good for us, we now have a brand-new car. So, getting to our project sites now will not be a problem for us.”
Also speaking, Theresa Scholler, the Project Coordinator of the Bread for The World for the Mano River and West Africa Desk. She told FrontPage Africa that the LRN has seven projects, adding that the car will help the LRN implement said projects.
“There are seven project sites and so they need a car to move around and that is the reason this car was given. Also, I will be going to one of the project sites next week to see what it is like,” Madam Scholler said.
