PLEEBO, Maryland – The re-election bid of House Speaker Bhofal Chambers is encountering a formidable challenge in Pleebo Sodoken District.

Speaker Chambers, seeking a fourth term as Representative for Maryland’s electoral District 2 and a second term as Speaker of the House of Legislature, faces a significant setback, as provisional results released by the National Elections Commission (NEC) on Sunday, October 15, 2023, show that CPP Candidate Anthony F. Williams has secured 6,126 votes, while Mr. Bhofal Chambers trails with 5,552.
In the Pleebo Sodoken District, it has been noted that Mr. Bhofal Chambers is frequently visiting the NEC Magisterial office in Harper City as the tallying process unfolds. The purpose of his constant presence around the tallying Hall remains undisclosed.
Allegedly, a group of unidentified individuals made an attempt to set fire to the NEC Magisterial office late on a Saturday midnight, but their actions were thwarted by a robust security team consisting of the LNP, PSU, ERU, and others, dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral activities in the county.
Five out of the eight representative candidates in the district gathered for a press conference on Saturday, October 14, 2023. These candidates conceded defeat to the CPP candidate Anthony F. Williams and urged Mr. Bhofal Chambers to acknowledge the results and refrain from any acts of electoral violence.
The press conference was attended by Zeway Carr, Sr. (REBUILDERS), Musa Dioh Lawal (ALSCOP), Bessie W. Nathan (LPP), Thomas G. Nimely (DNA), and Gripman Satue (DPPL).
Addressing the conference, DNA candidate Thomas Nimely acknowledged Anthony Williams’ victory and cited tally sheets compiled by his poll watchers on the day of the election. He then implored Speaker Bhofal Chambers to respect the will of the citizens and abstain from interfering with the tallying process. “The election held on October 10, Tuesday, was won fairly and squarely by Anthony Williams. We can all attest to that based on the tally sheets reported by our poll watchers. I want to tell Bhofal Chambers to stop what he’s doing,” Mr. Nimely stated during the press conference.
On her part, LPP representative candidate Bessie Wollor expressed gratitude to her supporters who voted for her during the election and acknowledged Anthony Williams’ triumph. She emphasized pressing issues in the district, such as the lack of safe drinking water and healthcare facilities, calling for immediate attention. She further urged Mr. Bhofal Chambers to accept the election outcome. “I want to thank my people, especially the Nyanbo people,” she said.
Meanwhile, Musa Dioh Lawal of ALSCOP reaffirmed his commitment to Anthony Williams’ victory and stressed that Speaker Chambers should not employ power or resources to undermine the interests of the people. “We stand by Anthony Williams in every way,” he declared.
Speaking to FrontPageAfrica, Mr. Williams accused Speaker Chambers of constantly intimidating NEC workers at the tallying center by constantly visiting the center during tallying hours with his armed men.
“Chambers keeps harassing the NEC Data entry center where the final tallying is taking place. He visits the place five times every day with different debates or arguments but the magistrate is seriously getting afraid due to the way Bhofal Chambers is advancing on the NEC Data entry center,” Williams said.
