Monrovia – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Monday, August 21, 2017 – in keeping with tradition, officially commissioned three senior government officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the National Elections Commission (NEC). She urged them to promote good relationship and development and reminded them to do the right thing for the country.
According to an Executive Mansion release, those commissioned were John A. Ballout, Jr., Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the State of Qatar, Jeanette A. Ebba-Davidson and Boakai Amandu Dukuly, Commissioners of the National Election Commission respectively.
The commissioning ceremony was performed in the Cabinet Room at her Foreign Ministry Office in Monrovia.
President Sirleaf challenged the newly commissioned officials to promote good relationship and development and continue with the same level of energy, enthusiasm and efficiency exhibited in previous roles.
She also told commissioners as they assume their new roles to exercise high level of integrity and do the right thing for the good of the country because according to her Liberians are depending on them to do the right thing for the country.
She cautioned the commissioners about the challenging time Liberia is faced with.
“You are joining your colleagues in what is likely to become the most difficult task in this very challenging moment in our country as we go through a political transition.”
She said what you do, how you act, how you protect the state from any disturbance; how you are perceived in the judgment you make regarding these elections will have a lasting effect on our country.
The Liberian leader reminded the commissioners to maintain the peace as she anticipates a peaceful transition.
In separate remarks, Commissioner Davidson and Ambassador Ballout thanked President Sirleaf for their preferment and promised to demonstrate examples worthy of their offices and make Liberia proud.
They assured President Sirleaf of their loyalty and commitment to Liberia and will and assured that they will help to improve the level of credibility and professionalism that all Liberians and residents alike would be delighted of.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials including Foreign Minister, Marjon Kamara, Dr. Augustine Konneh of the Foreign Service Institute, family members among others.
