Boayue along with activist Martin Kollie, a prominent student leader, was beaten on June 14, 2019 in Paynesville by unknown men which later resulted to Kollie managing to escape the scene while Boayue was manhandled and jailed at the Zone-5 police station in Paynesville.
Before his ordeal, Boayue has on several occasions raised alarms of threats on his life through unknown telephone calls and being tailed because of his critical stance to defend the rights of the ordinary people in Liberia.
According to Boayue, there have been several times he has been tailed by unknown people and even received several calls from unknown numbers threatening him to take away his life where him to continue with his advocacy defending human rights issues in Liberia.
He, however, mentioned not being safe living in Liberia due to several pressures and attacks for him to backdown in his quest to defend human rights in Liberia.
He said due to several threatening messages and being vilify by people due to his belief to stand for the right things even when no one is willing to, has made things even worst to continue his advocacy in Liberia.
“After complaining of several attacks and threatening remarks being received by some well-known Government officials and others and not receiving due process has made me to now live in fear here in Liberia,” Boayue said.
