Paynesville – The residence of Speaker Fonati Koffa, located in Rehab, is currently engulfed in flames as firefighters struggle to contain the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and there are no reports of any human casualties. However, the fire appears to be concentrated on the upper floor of Speaker Koffa’s single-story house.
Eyewitnesses report that Speaker Koffa and his wife managed to escape the house unharmed and sought refuge at the home of former President George Weah. They watched helplessly as their home burned, while Weah offered support to the grieving family during their time of distress.
Reports suggest that the National Fire Service was notified of the fire at Speaker Koffa’s residence, and an immediate response team was dispatched. However, witnesses claim that the fire truck encountered difficulties gaining access to the property, resulting in a delay of over an hour before firefighting efforts could commence.
One eyewitness accused the firefighters of intentional delay, alleging that they did not promptly deploy water despite having access to the necessary equipment. It was observed that vehicles parked within the Speaker’s property were moved outside the fence to facilitate easier access for firefighting operations.
A firefighter was overheard expressing the need for additional fire trucks to enhance the capabilities of the National Fire Service, especially in light of recent fire incidents across the country.
