MONROVIA – FrontPageAfrica has obtained a recording of a telephone conversation in which the administrator at Bong Mines Hospital is heard telling the head of procurement there that some high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Health had transferred US$80,000 to the hospital’s account under the guise of renovating the hospital, but are expecting US$50,000 to be sent back to them.

MONROVIA – Members of the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission (NEC) have informed the Plenary of the Liberian Senate that there has been no funding provided by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning for election purposes.

MONROVIA – A group of citizens from Nimba County under the banner Nimba Kwado have distanced themselves from a recent endorsement done for President George Weah’s second-term bid by the organization’s President, Mr. Isaac Dahn. Mr. Togba Porte, the Chairman of the board of the organization, told journalists during a news conference on Monday that Mr. Dahn unilaterally decided to endorse President George Weah of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) to contest for a second term bid.

Internal bickering has intensified within the National Patriotic Party (NPP) as two factions of the former ruling parties have are at each other’s throat over alleged breach of the party’s constitution.

MONROVIA – A group under the banner of ‘Consortium of Sinoe County Civil Society Organizations’ has written to County Senator J. Milton Teahjay, requesting a progress report on the $700K (seven hundred thousand US dollars) intended for developmental projects in the county.

MONROVIA – The office of Senator Prince Moye is requesting the General Auditing Commission to investigate a recent discovery made in the country’s national budget, where it’s alleged that US$50,000 was diverted on the order of Representative J. Marvin Cole.

MONROVIA – Less than a week following assassination attempts on the life of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu-Scott, Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, has divulged that she’s receiving intelligence about a planned attack against her vehicle on the Buchanan-Monrovia highway.

MONROVIA – Senator Varney Sherman (UP-Grand Cape Mount County) has denied the allegations made by his colleague, Senator Simon Taylor (ANC-Grand Cape Mount County), calling them false and misguided comments. He also referred to Senator Taylor as a “coincidental colleague.”

Monrovia – The Liberian Senate seems to be faced with dilemma in adopting an integrated pension and benefits scheme for certain categories of officials of government, with the sticky question of what constitutes “honorable retirement” for lawmakers.
