MONROVIA – The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Major General Prince C. Johnson III, has cautioned African leaders against the dangers of establishing paramilitary groups for personal security.

MONROVIA – The Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, has called on member states of ECOWAS to respect decisions made by the ECOWAS Court of Justice and the need to grant the ECOWAS Parliament full legislative powers. This is considered a prerequisite for improving regional governance.

MONROVIA – In reference to an objection raised against Mr. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby II as a representative candidate for District #1 Sinoe County, the National Elections Commission (NEC) has scheduled a hearing to be conducted by Atty. Fomba A.M Swaray on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

MONROVIA – Joseph Gbanyan, a member of the Group of 77, a disabled organization, has voiced serious concerns about the current sanitary challenges they are facing, warning that if urgent action is not taken, it could lead to a major health outbreak.

MONROVIA – President George Weah’s decision regarding nominees for positions on the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has come under scrutiny, potentially violating Section 6.8 of the LACC Act. Concerns have been raised by the Senate regarding the apparent disregard for this provision.

MONROVIA – The Liberty Party (LP) in-house fight took another dimension when the Party Chairman, Musa Bility, announced in a press release over the weekend that the Party’s Political Leader, Nyounblee Karnga-Lawrence, and a few other members of the Party’s Legislative Caucus were being expelled.

Monrovia – The ruling Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has reportedly initiated discussions with Benoni Urey, leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP), in an effort to secure his endorsement for the re-election campaign of incumbent President George Weah.

Monrovia – The government of Liberia, specifically the Ministry of Public Works, is under fire for its handling of road construction projects in the country. Two years ago, the ministry entered into an agreement with road construction company “DESIRE” to undertake the construction and maintenance of a crucial 130-kilometer road between Sinoe and Rivercess Counties, known as Lot 2 ITI Bridge to Sinoe County. The project, valued US$1,905,218.80, has encountered numerous issues, leaving travelers stranded and raising questions about the effective use of taxpayer funds.

MONROVIA – William Tuider, one of the Presidential hopefuls of the Democratic National Allegiance (DNA), has vowed to enhance Liberia’s justice system and create numerous job opportunities through agricultural industrialization if elected as president of the country.
