Monrovia – The Fire for Fire International Ministries has made a historic donation of checkpoint materials to the Liberian National Police (LNP).
The donation of the checkpoint materials which include designed steel poles, among other was made recently in Monrovia.
Inscriptions on the checkpoint materials donated to the LNP are: Stop, Check Point, Liberia National Police, Building of the nation depends on the church by Pastor Enoch Annor, among others.
The check point materials which were attractively painted red, white and blue are usually used by LNP officers at various intersections including Sinkor, ELWA, and other areas during the night hours.
It is also being used by officers of the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and Ministry of Transport to slow down vehicles at various checkpoints to carryout inspection for fire extinguishers.
The donation of the checkpoint materials to the LNP by the Fire for Fire International Ministries has been described by some LNP officers and passers-by as “a good historic gift from the Church” to help enhance security operations at the various checkpoints.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with this writer upon his return from Nigeria and Ghana, the church’s Founder and General Overseer, Prophet Enoch Baffour Annor disclosed that the purpose of the items donated to the Police was to show to the nation and its people that the rebuilding process of Liberia also depends on the churches.
Prophet Annor had gone to Nigeria and Ghana for his apostolic consecration by the President of the International College of Bishops and Apostles, Archbishop Leonard Kawas, and to hold religious talks with others.
He said the churches in Liberia can play a pivotal role by spiritually and materially contributing to the nation’s rebuilding process.
He observed that for too long, LNP officers assigned at the various checkpoints used “make-shift sticks and old gallons” to mount at checkpoints at some intersections and highways, and as such, it is now time for the church to move in and contribute towards the country’s progress.
Prophet Annor stated that the placement of these “makeshift” checkpoints especially on the highways sends out bad signals about the country to investors just arriving in.
He said government alone cannot do all and as such; it is now time for the churches to rally around government by identifying and making their minimum contributions to areas or sectors that have been forgotten.
Meanwhile, Prophet Annor is challenging his fellow clergymen and other religious bodies to see reason to collectively work together to rebuild Liberia.
