Monrovia – A non–profit health organization in the United States of America, International Medical Project (IMP – USA) has donated assorted medical supplies and equipment to three health care institutions in Liberia.
The health care institutions that International Medical Project (IMP – USA) identified with over the week – end are the Du – side Hospital in Harbel, Margibi County as well as the Family Medical Center in Jacob Town, Paynesville and the New Sight Eye Center (NSEC) in the 72nd Community, Paynesville which is hosting Liberia Health System Solutions.
At the Du – side Hospital in Margibi County, International Medical Project – USA donated a permanent X – Ray machine and a portable X–Ray Machine with several assorted medical supplies including surgical tools, gloves, nose masks and surgical gowns valued at over one hundred thousand United States dollars; while two portable developer X-Ray machines with accessories valued over fifty thousand United States dollars each were presented to the Family Medical Center and the New Sight Eye Center that is hosting Liberia Health System Solutions.
Speaking during the presentations of the medical supplies and equipment to the three health care centers, International Medical Project – USA President, Leon P. Randall said the donations by the organization is to help make the health care institutions’ delivery efforts to be effective and efficient.
Mr. Randall said the four X – Ray machines given to the Du – side Hospital, the Family Medical Center and the New Sight Eye Center – Liberia Health System Solutions, is IMP – USA way of addressing the lack of medical equipment in the Liberia.
“The lack of medical equipment is one of the major challenges confronting the health sector of Liberia that needs to be given serious and urgent attention by the Liberian Government and stakeholders in the health sector”, Mr. Randall emphasized.
The President of International Medical Project – USA who came to Liberia in 2010 with Children Surgery International to carry out free medical surgery at the Du – side Hospital has made additional twelve travels to the country bringing in medical supplies.
He said International Medical Project – USA has been shipping medical supplies to Nigeria and the Philippines but from 2010 up to present Liberia has been his focused as he has brought into the country 35 containers of medical supplies and equipment that had be distributed to several health care centers.
Mr. Randall: “90 percent of International Medical Project – USA health and health related activities are directed to Liberia because it is the entity’s plan to see the country of Liberia health care delivery system is improved in meeting the health needs of the people”
However, he said he was pleased to see that several of those health centers that benefited from the organization’s donations are stay having the items given them are in good condition and urged the three health care institutions to maintain theirs.
Mr. Randall further disclosed that a 23 feet container with medical supplies and surgical equipment for the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County is to arrive in Liberia shortly including a 44 feet container of medical supplies for distribution among several health centers across the country.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the NSEC, Robert Dolo who received the portable X – Ray Developer Machine on behalf Liberian Health System Solutions, thanked Mr. Randall for the gesture and promised that it will be used for the intended purpose.
Mr. Dolo who is Co – Owner of Liberian Health System Solutions can at the time the group was in need of X – Ray machine the most and said the donation is the beginning of a long lasting partnership between the two organizations.
Liberian Health System Solutions is an entity owned and operated by young professional Liberians which emphasis is on diagnostics services for Liberia.
The donation of the portable X – Ray Developer Machine to the New Sight Eye Center that is hosting Liberia Health System Solutions was from a visit made to America in August 2915 by Mr. Augustus and Mrs. Cecelia Flomo.
During their visit, Mr. and Mrs. Flomo toured the ORCHARD Hospital in Gridley, California where they made an appealed for medical support to Liberia Health System Solutions.
