MONROVIA – The President of Students Against Corruption (SAC), Daniel Dennis, is pushing for a significant step towards transparency by urging President Boakai to promptly declare and publish his assets.
Dennis emphasizes that this move is crucial for President Boakai to demonstrate his commitment to fighting corruption and addressing governance issues, echoing the promises made during his election campaign.
Dennis contends that a critical aspect of combating corruption is a comprehensive audit of the previous administration led by Soccer Legend George Weah. He asserts that during the Weah Administration, there was a noticeable surge in wealth among government officials, raising concerns about financial impropriety amid economic challenges. Dennis calls for a swift and thorough investigation to shed light on these alleged instances of sudden wealth accumulation.
In addition to the call for transparency, Dennis advocates for a more robust Anti-Corruption team, expressing reservations about President Boakai’s appointments from the previous Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Administration. He highlights that several officials from this administration were associated with corruption and lacked the courage to confront it. Dennis asserts that a refreshed and assertive team is essential to effectively combat corruption and foster accountability within the government.
Overall, SAC President Daniel Dennis emphasizes the need for tangible actions to fulfill promises made during the election, calling for transparency, accountability, and a comprehensive examination of the previous administration’s financial practices.
