Monrovia – At long last, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) will move into its own headquarters on Friday, April 28th. The project is an assistance from the Federation of International Football Associations FIFA. Records show it is the first time the FA will own a modern headquarters since its foundation in 1936. The headquarters, which is valued at US$1.5 million, is located in the Swankamore community on Samuel Kanyon Doe Boulevard in Congo Town.

According to a release from the Football House, Liberian President George Manneh Weah, who is the chief patron of sports, will officially dedicate the project. The ceremony will have in attendance representatives from FIFA, CAF, sponsors of the LFA, legendary players of the national football team, clubs, and others involved in football.
The three-storey building, which is designed with an extended conference hall at its foot, will house staff, including office space designated for members of the executive committee and the technical department, which includes a number of national teams. An architectural design of the project was done by CESAF-Liberia Limited and got approval from the Executive committee of the LFA.
The LFA and CESAF signed a contract to build the football house home on January 29th, 2020. LFA president Mustapha Raji and CESAF manager Diego Pol signed the project, which should have lasted for 20 months but was severely obstructed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The president of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji, along with representatives of the FIFA delegation, broke ground for the construction of a new LFA headquarters on April 20th, 2021. Raji reiterated at the ceremony that money for football will be used for football as long as he is president of the Liberian FA.
Raji said the opportunity given by FIFA to develop artificial pitches and the FA headquarters is in the right direction to develop football in Africa and around the world. “We’d like you to take our message to President Infantino that Liberia needs more. There’s more that we need to happen in our country. We understand that everyone has an equal envelope, but our situation today is very grave, and we need more support,” he said.
“We can guarantee you that the monies we received from FIFA for football will be directed to football development exclusively. Evidence by the number of projects our administration has taken, we can assure you we will be transparent not just–“
Speaking at the ceremony, FIFA Development Manager El Hadji Wack Diop stated that FIFA is impressed with the work done by the LFA, unlike other countries. He said the accomplishment of the LFA in two years is impressive, and LFA can count on FIFA for more support. Diop said FIFA likes to work with a country that has ambition to improve, which is the case of the LFA.
