Monrovia – Rev. Dr. Herman Browne Saturday betrayed emotions when he recounted the bond between himself and his late mother, Clavender Agnes Railey Browne.
Describing his late mother as an epitome of love and discipline, Rev. Dr. Browne said the discipline his late mother instilled in him helped him to attain the heights he has attained today, adding she also taught him to love God and to always offer the best gifts to the Almighty.
Browne, who couldn’t hold back his tears while delivering a sermon at the Mass of the Resurrection, said his late mother was irreplaceable and would never be forgotten.
“She was a mother of open mind and forgiving spirit for all,” Dr. Browne said.
Dr. Browne, an Episcopal prelate, who took the religious role like his late father, the late Archbishop George D. Browne, told the congregation that his mother, who served the Trinity Cathedral on Broad Street for over 20 years, will be missed for her passion about mothering not only her children, but other kids around her.
This, he said, made her an advisor to many in Liberia, a passion he said she upheld greatly.
At the mass of resurrection, he told others in the congregation not to forget about proper upbringing of their kids, despite having other busy schedules.
“Our Children still need us,” he said.
As a mother with a faith of confidence, deep patience and confidence, Dr. Browne recounted how the late “Mother Browne” as she was affectionate called, would not let go a moment she had set for prayers.
“What used to upset me is that, she will not only want to pray for the family; but everyone, especially those in the news, which could not be less than an hour, and she insisted that we do it. And we got used to it,” Dr. Browne added.
According to him, his late mother’s zest for prayer was unmatched and that she always reminded her children to be grateful for the gift of life.
Moreover, Dr. Browne said her beliefs to effectuate faith in God has now placed the and his siblings in a position to always put God first in their lively endeavors.
In the same way, one thing he could not forget was his late mother’s spirit of forgiveness up to the time of her death.
“Up to the time of her death, she always advised us to let go things that hurt us and leave it with God,” he said.
The late “Mother Browne” leaves to mourn a host of family and children to include, Rev. Dr. Herman Browne, Prelate and former President of Cuttington University, Dahlene K. Browne Paasewe, Chacha and Nancy among others.
