In a communication issued on December 16, 2025, the committee described Attorney Minnie-James as a fearless and consistent voice for women and girls, whose work has helped to shape conversations around equality, protection, and opportunity, especially for young girls who face social, cultural, and economic barriers to education and personal growth.
The committee highlighted that over the years, Attorney Minnie-James has used her legal knowledge, community influence, and personal commitment to encourage young girls to remain in school, to believe in their potential, and to understand that education is a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty, abuse, and discrimination.
Her advocacy has also focused on confronting harmful practices and social vices that negatively affect women and girls, including gender-based violence, early marriage, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse that continue to threaten the safety and dignity of females in many communities.
Through community engagements, mentorship initiatives, legal support, and public awareness campaigns, Attorney Minnie-James has consistently spoken out against injustice while offering guidance and encouragement to survivors and vulnerable young women, helping them regain confidence and hope for a better future.
According to the Bong Annual Service Award Committee, her leadership and moral courage have played a significant role in promoting inclusion, fairness, and respect for women within families, schools, and public institutions, thereby contributing to a more just and compassionate society.
The committee further noted that the honorary award is non-competitive and is reserved for individuals whose sustained efforts have created lasting and positive change, adding that Attorney Minnie-James’ work continues to inspire resilience, confidence, and ambition among women and girls throughout the county.
Reacting to the honor, Attorney Minnie-James expressed deep gratitude and humility, stating that receiving the award was an emotional moment for her, as it reaffirmed her lifelong commitment to stand for those whose voices are often ignored.
She explained that the recognition strengthened her resolve to continue advocating for the education, protection, and empowerment of girls, noting that the award belonged not only to her, but to every young girl who dared to dream and every woman who refused to give up despite challenges.
Attorney Minnie-James also described the honor as a reminder that collective effort and consistent advocacy can bring meaningful change, and she encouraged stakeholders, parents, community leaders, and institutions to remain committed to creating safe and supportive environments for women and girls.
The Bong Annual Service Award, which is based in Gbarnga, Bong County, is an initiative that recognizes individuals and institutions for exceptional service, leadership, and positive impact within society.
