FrontPageAfrica Awarded PUL Newspaper of the Year Again

Paynesville City – FrontPageAfrica has repeated its 2015 feat winning the prestigious Press Union of Liberia newspaper of the year award for 2016 while its publisher and Managing Editor claimed Journalist of the year accolade.

Last year winner of the Journalist of year award, FPA’s Mae Azongo, won Development Reporter of the year.

The PUL Awards and Dinner ceremony was held at the Paynesville City hall where media executives, media development partners, government officials and journalists all turned out to grace the occasion on 1 July 2016.

Presenting the newspaper of the year award to FPA, Jerolemick Piah, Press Secretary to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, hailed the paper for its professional reporting and commitment to reporting the truth with a high level of ethic and consistency.

For human rights lawyer, Cllr. Tiawon Gonglo, who presented the journalist of the year award to Rodney Sieh, it was an epitome of extraordinary journalism for the level of work Sieh has done over the year.

Cllr. Gongloe described the FPA Managing Editor as a true journalist and prayed him to continue his good work.

Speaking earlier, PUL President Kamara A. Kamara called on Liberian media practitioners especially reporters to consider high ethical standards but pointed out that even though journalists have done well, some have also gravely bridged ethical standards over the year.

Other institutions that scooped awards are Power Television, TV Station of the year, and Fabric Radio, radio station of the year while Festus Poque of New Democrat Newspaper won two awards including Business and Economic a journalist of the year award and Alycious David of the News Newspaper earned Investigative Reporter of the year amongst others.
