Addressing a group of supporters during the official launch of his campaign in Gardnerville’s Supermarket over the weekend Cllr Wureh called on the people of the district to imagine a new beginning after the October polls.
“You had been deprived of quality leadership for 12 years. You have had bad leadership, but you have an opportunity to make that change from bad to good”, he told supporters.
Cllr. Wureh, an independent candidate, is contesting for the first time in Montserrado County District #11.
He is a professional accountant and also a practicing lawyer with broad specialized experience in both the private and public sectors.
“This election is a new dawn in the history of district #11. Things will not be the way it used to be”, he noted.
From the history of 2014 Senatorial election, many political pundits are saying that this year’s election will hail many newcomers in the Lower House of Parliament (House of Representative).
But with 23 candidates vying for the Montserrado County District #11 seat; the race seems to be a tight one which is giving the current Lawmaker, Gabriel Nyenkan, a run for his money.
For Cllr. Wureh, the huge number of candidates even places him in a better position.
In that, he urged residents of the district to trust him because he has integrity and credibility to move the district to the next level.
Giving his manifesto, he assured his supporters of a six pillar plan he has for the district, and promises that he will not betray their trust and their confidence.
He continued by saying: From Supermarket to Duan Town, to Barnesville, to Palm Hill to Diggsville and Caldwell.
The people of Caldwell really, really astonished me today. So, I am very impressed by the attendance and by the level of support you have demonstrated. Again, I appreciate it and I am looking forward to more working relationship.”
At the start of the official campaign launch, the Montserrado County District #11 candidate along with thousands of supporters in a jubilant mode paraded from Barnersville Estate to the Gardnerville’s Supermarket where the campaign Headquarter is situated.
Madam Zoe Harris, 52, with lots of enthusiasm, told FrontPage Africa that since 1997, when she paraded for former President Charles Taylor, when she was much younger she has not taken part in a parade for any politician.
“I am going to vote for him because he has been living in this area for long and not only that; he a trustworthy man”, Madam Harris said.
Amazed by the huge turnout, the Chairman of the campaign of Cllr. Wureh; Anthony Roberts believes the event signifies the level of work that they have done in the district something he says put them in the better position to clinch victory at the polls.
“There are 10000 reasons why the people of district #11will make Cllr. Wureh their choice in the forthcoming election,” Roberts said.
“We appreciate you so much and we know you will bring more people over to this movement”, the campaign Chairman disclosed.
“Our gathering was such a historical one. I think you can see that no independent candidate in this year’s election has ever pulled the crowd like we did today”.
He also encouraged supporters to stay away from violence when they go out to sell their candidate.
“The pen is mightier than the sword, tell them the real issues and don’t fight them”, he said.
As the official campaign launch started jubilantly; so it ended, with over 60 motorcyclists receiving assorted motorbike spare parts ranging from tires, raincoat, head-light and other items.
The items that were given to the motorcyclists according to Cllr. Wureh campaign team is aimed at boosting the strides motorcyclists are making in the private sector.
Speaking to FrontPage Africa many motorcyclists praised Cllr. Wureh and termed his donation as timely, especially during the rainy season period.
James Kollie, sitting on his motorbike after receiving his donation said he was in dire need for a rain’s gear. The spare parts he says will help him cut down expenses.
“The way he thin ks about us we will think about him when we get at the ballot box,” Kollie said.
