Monrovia – A ten-day financial training for employees at the Liberia National Commission on Small Arms comes to an end on March 31st.
The training got underway on Tuesday, March 21 at the headquarters of the Commission and is expected to last ten days.
In welcoming the participants and highlighting the purpose of the training, the Coordinator of the Commission, Mr. Josiah Joekai, stated that the training was part of activities under the GOL/UNMIL Transition Plan.
He further disclosed that the training will cover more than the financial aspect and intimated that the financial training would be followed by training in website development.
In remarks, the Chairman of the Commission, James M. Fromayan welcomed the trainers and stated that the Commission is always grateful for any opportunity to build the capacity of its staff.
He expressed gratitude to the GOL/UNMIL Transition for including capacity building of employees in its programs.
He further stated the Commission’s excitement about the impending web development training which will enable the Commission to have a web presence, something that is currently a regional standard for all Small Arms Commissions in the region.
The ten-day training focuses on introducing members of the Procurement and Finance Departments to QuickBooks, Accounting software that assists institutions conduct financial transactions quickly and efficiently.
The training is being conducted by Mr. Togar Gibson, Comptroller at Boowi Technology, the institution that developed the training package for the software.
