Monrovia – Ahead of the crucial elections which is just a day away, several local and international bodies are joining a major campaign of preaching the messages of peace to Liberians all in a bid to see the country move forward despite political backgrounds.
Well one of such is a Business Group is the Concern Liberian International Business Organization (COLINBO)
With chapters in the fifteen Counties and a membership base of over five thousand people (5,000) people the group endorsed Liberia as their candidate.
Our winning candidate is Liberia, Liberia because she is the only candidate that can’t be defeated despite what, says it’s President Fumba Trawally.
He added that Mama Liberia is the only Country all Liberians can’t be deported from as such it is incumbent upon citizens of this Nation to help jealously protect the peace.
Mr. Trawally said over the period COLINBO has been in the vanguard of spreading the good messages of peace to its members across the Country including Liberians in general, Peace is key, Peace is important, Peace is development, he indicated to newsman.
The COLINBO boss noted that without peace the fast changes he observed in the Country would not have been made possible, lauding President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf led Government through the International community and Liberians in general for making Africa’s oldest Republic achieve such milestone.
Look at the roads, electricity and water supplies to some parts of the Country, some health facilities, infrastructure development and many others as some of the changes that we have and it is paramount that we help improve upon them, Fumba added.
Reflecting on the past Mr. Trawally said the 1990 war coerced him to flee Liberia to neighboring Guinea to seek refuge and later the Gambia, I walked from Bomi Hills to Lofa and later to Guinea and it was indeed terrible, I am a victim of the crisis including you people, as such this ugly past should not be experience in our Country, he noted.
Fumba explained further that from 2003 to present as a result of the peace we all enjoy he has Businesses running and have about one hundred people in his employ something that would not have been possible if there was no peace.
He told journalists that it is about time that the people of this Country put all political differences aside and put the interest of Liberia forward.
We are going to a crucial moment twenty four hours from now as such I appeal to all Liberians to remain peaceful, civil, nonviolent and vote the candidate of your choice and go back home after you shall have exercised your constitutional right, accept the outcome of the elections and do not be misled or induced by and politician to cause problem, Fumba in a soft tune noted.
Buttressing further the charter head of COLINBO George Kumekeh urged Liberians to put the Country first.
The civil crisis he added profit us nothing rather send us backward as such it is important for all Liberians to say no to violence and yes to peace, George added.
He challenged any politician who may have problem with the outcome of the election to use the legal means and follow the example of Kenya but not to result to violence.
As for W. Ohato James spokesperson of the group, he reminded all the candidates to uphold to the fullest the Farmington River Declarations and that of the Ganta declaration which amongst other things call for a peaceful and nonviolent election.
Mr. James said he and his family like other families struggle to survive during the crisis but due to the current peace been enjoyed, His life is and that of his family has immensely changed for the better.
COLINBO over the period has been a Business body supporting activities of peace, women empowerment and economic freedom.
The Business group during the Ebola crisis donated huge quantity of Ebola preventive materials to the Government including its members and some media institutions as their way of helping to exit the virus from the Country.
It has also helped trained her members to be economically independent for the benefit of the Country and its people.
