Monrovia – In a bid to buttress government’s effort in containing the spread of the coronavirus in Liberia, the Friends of Musa Kenneh has launched a massive anti-coronavirus sensitization and awareness campaign across District #2 in Montserrado County.
Mr. Kenneh is an award winning Journalist and currently serves as the Secretary General of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL).
According to a release, Kenneh, who is a prominent resident of the district, along with his friends, encouraged residents of the district to follow all preventive measures instituted by health authorities in the country aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19.
The release furthered that the Friends of Musa Kenneh, in a Jehovah Witnesses -style campaign, informed the residents that regular hand washing, the use of nose masks and social distancing, among others are essential in the fight against the COVID-19.
During the campaign, the group distributed nose masks and other preventive materials to some of the residents.
Kenneh, speaking at the event, advised residents not to live in a state of denial, noting that the Coronavirus is real and has become a global pandemic that is taking away the lives of thousands of people worldwide.
He assured the residents of District #2 of the distribution of some bags of 25kg rice in the coming weeks, adding that it is the Friends of Musa’s way of contributing to the successful fight against the coronavirus in Liberia.
He said, as a son of District #2 in Montserrado County, he will continue to seek the needs of his people through several ways in the interest of unity and as well as the forward match of the area.
Speaking further, he explained that the goal of the campaign is to buttress government and partners’ effort in preventing the spread of COVID-19, while the door to door awareness is intended to properly educate households about all preventive measures put in place by health authorities in combating the virus.
He said it was shocking to know that there are still many people in the communities who do not have proper knowledge on the preventive measures put in place by the government.
Meanwhile, the group has reached over a thousand residents in the Jacob Town and Amagashi communities within Montsrrado District #2 and is extending to other communities across the country.
The Friends of Musa Kenneh was established by the PUL secretary-General to undertake several initiatives as a way of giving back to his people across the district.
The group has been involved in humanitarian work, education and sensitization, mentorship and the provision of scholarships and financial aid to several underprivileged residents of the district.
He is at the same time calling on all well-meaning Liberians to actively get involved in the fight against the coronavirus as a way of collectively getting the virus out of the country.
