Monrovia – The founder and CEO of Liberia’s first ethical hacking and cyber security firm, Cyber Intelligence Group-Liberia (CIG), Louis Jayjay, is calling on the government of Liberia, national and international organizations operating in the country to take the issue of cyber security very seriously as the country moves into the digital era.
Speaking to FrontPageAfrica on Tuesday, April 17 the Liberian security and IT expert who spent eight years in the US army serving in various sensitive military capacities said Liberia’s infrastructure is at a serious risk because of the lack of proper cyber security awareness in government ministries and agencies.
He said since he came back home, he and his team have done numerous study on the economy of Liberia as it relates to cyber security and had found the system to be vulnerable to hackers, something he noted moved him to open what is now the first cyber security firm in Liberia.
“As Liberia transcends into the digital era, the need for adequate cyber security capacity will be of paramount importance. It is a pride and joy for a Liberian owned firm to have taken the lead in starting up and providing first of its kind services in Liberia. So we are calling on all agencies of government and non-governmental organizations to adhere to this information and try to work with us in order to safeguard the country,” he noted.
Speaking further to this paper, the CIG CEO said he and his team are fully up to the task to provide cyber security knowledge in Liberia. He added that CIG had some of the best experts trained in cyber security intelligence around the world. He said CIG’s aim is to provide affordable and cheaper cyber security intelligence knowledge across Liberia.
“Our team members comprise of current and former military intelligence experts, foreign counterparts in Russia, Philippines and the United States with certification such as certified Ethical Hacker, Comp TIA Security +, License Penetration Tester and certified Information Security Specialist.”
