MONROVIA – A renowned Liberian agribusiness and service provider, Vainga Agriculture Development and Management Consultancy (VADEMCO) is poised to secure a US$20 million investment fund as part of its continuous strive to improve the agriculture sector in Liberia.

The organization on Monday, October 2, 2023, dispatched two senior management staff to Accra, Ghana, on a week-long initial investment agreement meeting with its international development partners. The delegate included VADEMCO Program Manager G. Ambullai Perry and its Rice Value Chain Consultant.

“VADEMCO continues to strive for the development of the agriculture sector in Liberia and the efforts have gone beyond the horizon of the territorial boundary of Liberia for potential investment opportunities,” said VADEMCO CEO and Senior Consultant Suliman V. Kamara, in a statement released as the staff departed the country.

“This project will be a wealth building opportunity for over10,000 smallholder farmers in Liberia as well as VADEMCO management itself, he added.

Upon the return of the VADEMCO delegate over the weekend, the detail of the project will be disclosed to the public”, he noted.

According to the VADEMCO boss, the project implementation is expected to jumpstart early 2024, provided, there is political stability and good business climate. The initiative is also expected to create over1,000 job opportunities for the youth and provide training opportunities for another 50 or more young Liberians, he said.

Established in 1999, VADEMCO is a 100% Liberian-owned agribusiness/service provider entity that is legally registered under the Business Act of the Republic of Liberia. The organization’s primary goal is to cater to the needs of smallholder farmers with the aim of transforming the small holder subsistence farming into a smallholder commercial enterprise farming system in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

VADEMCO is envisaged to step in and fill the gap of agriculture extension services provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in providing technical and extension services to small holders’ producers using the Agriculture Value Chain Development (VCD) approach in the transformation process.

Among other things, the entity services include training, coaching, and technical assistance including production best practices, post-harvest handling, processing (value addition), packaging, and marketing.

It has a strong income-generating program such as assorted food processing, commercial tree crop nursery, Farmer Field School (FFS), Tree crop Farm Revitalization services, Contract Farming, etc.

VADEMCO presently operates in four Counties-Bong, Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, and Lofa.
