Ahead of a two-member delegation, NEC Liberia Chairperson, Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, is currently in Dakar, Senegal, attending the 2025 ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) Symposium on the theme: “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Electoral Integrity.”

Invited to the Dakar event by ECONEC and Yiaga Africa, Madam Browne Lansanah is accompanied by NEC IT Deputy Director, Edna Freeman.

She joins fellow Electoral Management Body (EMB) leaders, information technology experts, civil society actors, regional and continental organizations, thematic experts, and development partners in exploring innovative ways to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) for credible and transparent elections across West Africa.

The symposium, which will be followed by the 11th ECONEC General Assembly, seeks to identify strategies for EMBs to leverage AI in strengthening electoral integrity, transparency, and operational efficiency.

At the official opening on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, the Chairman of Senegal’s Commission Electorale Nationale Autonome (CENA), Mr. Abdullah Sylla, urged EMBs to embrace AI as the world rapidly transitions into a digital era.

He called on EMBs to “harness available expertise within the ECONEC region and beyond to assess their systems and develop policies for the integration of AI into electoral processes.”

The ECONEC Symposium concludes on Thursday, 13 November 2025, in Dakar, with the election of a new leadership for the regional electoral network.C
