Watanga’s Unbeaten Run Ends


Monrovia – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division League Match Day 7 matches were played in five venues around the country as the league leaders, Watanga FC, suffered her first defeat of the season against Nimba FC after a 1-0 home win for the Nimba boys in Ganta City.

Watanga FC previously won her first five league matches before been held to a goalless draw at Barrack Young Controller over the weekend.

Coach Matthew Julutweh, who said his boys were ready to stop the dominance of BYC and LISCR travelled on Sunday for their first match in Ganta against Nimba FC but their travelled was not favorable for them.

Barrack Young Controller 4- 2 FC Fassell

Barrack Young Controller returned to winning ways after the goalless draw over the weekend against Watanga FC.

The Go Blue Boys inflicted more pains on ‘points’ donors FC Fassell as they moved second on the league table.

Mustapha Lomell scored a brace as he opened his league account before Daniel Woto grabbing his third league goal of the season and George Kerkulah added his name on the goal sheet.

The result means BYC moved second on the 12-team log with 15 points one point behind Watanga at the top who has 16 points from seven matches.

Nimba United 0-1 LISCR

LISCR FC’s Christopher Jackson found the back of the net for the first time in the league this season as his goal was enough to give the Shipping Boys all three points against Nimba United at the North Star stadium in Mount Barclay.

Jackson’s 76th minute strike condemned Nimba United to the second league defeat at home.

Jubilee 0-0 Monrovia Club Breweries

Monrovia Club Breweries failed to make their dominance account as they were held to a goalless draw against Jubilee.

Jubilee’s defense was fragile and exposed on couple of occasions but goalkeeper Tmacs Wonderful made couple of outstanding saves.

Goalkeeper Wonderful made a 93rd minute save from Marvin Blapoh in a one-one situation to keep the game level.   

LIPRC Oilers 3-0 Small Town

In Kakata City, LPRC Oilers destroyed Small Town 3-0 to return to winning ways with Varney Sando scoring a hat-trick to ensure the old boys grabbed all three points against Small Town FC.

Small Town FC, who are currently mourning their former president Adolph Lawrence, returned to the pitch after their last two games were postponed but could not survive Sando, who fired in a hat trick.

NPA Anchors 0-0 Keitrace In the early kickoff on Sunday in Kakata City, NPA Anchors and Keitrace game ended goalless.
