The sports betting company has been caught carrying out live promotions in Kakata, Margibi, and Ganta, Nimba Counties, which is against the regulations of the National Lottery Authority. In a video possessed by this paper, Premier Betting is seen carrying out advertisements in the two counties without allegedly meeting the required license from the Liberia National Lottery Authority.
According to documents from the Liberia National Lottery Authority possessed by FrontPage Africa, every sports gaming company and online casino that wishes to carry out business in Liberia should have a minimum investment of USD $750,000 in the country and a liability of USD $250,000 before operating a legal sports gaming company. The documents also require every bookmaker or gaming company to register with USD $80,000 as a license fee to operate only in Montserrado County, while the licensing regulation fees in other rural counties stand at USD $6,500 before operating or running advertisements.
According to our investigators, only Winners Incorporated Liberia, Sports Betting Company, Doxxbet Liberia, and Starbet Liberia have all met the required rural license standard under the gaming board of Liberia to operate in other counties or run advertisements of their businesses.
Already on their neck for failing to pay Mr. Sammie Tamba from Lofa County, who alleged that the company has refused to pay him the sum of three million nine hundred ninety-seven dollars and thirty-five cents (Liberian dollars) he won from Premierbet Slot game, the matter is already in court after intervention from the Liberia National Lottery Authority.
When contacted, the management of Premierbet Liberia denied operating illegally without a license in the accused counties (Margibi & Nimba) and claimed that they were only carrying out advertisements under the permit of the county city mayors. They accused Winners Incorporated
Liberia as key players against Premier bet Liberia’s operations in Liberia, adding that Premier bet Liberia only operates in Montserrado County. When asked about the issue of Mr. Sammie Tamba, the gameshop manager refused to comment further on the matter.
Gaming is legalized in Liberia, and as such, every sports betting company operating in Liberia must adequately prepare itself to run services for Liberians and its customers generally. Recently, another betting company in Liberia, Bettomax Liberia, also denied payment to customer Daniel Gaga from Montserrado County, who won the amount of $400,000, until the intervention of the Liberia National Lottery Authority.
