Monrovia –Liberian striker Kpah Sherman says it’s his dream to play at the Africa Cup of Nations or World Cup before he retires from football.
Sherman told FIFA’s official website that it means a lot to represent Liberia.
“When talking about Liberian football, many people’s first thought is George Weah, a legend not only in that country but the entire African continent. Weah is the only African to have won both the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of The Year award, achieving these feats in 1995.”
“In addition, the former Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan star won the African Player of The Year award three times. It’s no surprise that the world recognizes him as one of the greatest strikers of all time. His significant influence on Liberia cannot be denied and Kpah Sherman, who, like Weah, plays as a forward, can only agree.”

“George Weah is a national icon,” Sherman said in an exclusive interview with FIFA. “He is an international icon, our idol, my idol and the idol of many people. “He took Liberian and African football to the next level. He has represented Liberia in every way, even as our President.”
To date, no Liberian footballer—or African for that matter—has reached the standards set by Weah. According to Sherman, it takes more than just hard work to achieve that level.
“It takes years of training, hard work and God’s blessing. It’s not something that happens easily. He had a lot to overcome,” he added.
