Monrovia- Liberia football Association upper women’s league side Shaita Angels has announced the staging of a preseason tournament named the Careyslbury international cup.
The Careysburg based club, Shaita Angels, hosting the preseason tournament for women football clubs is Noits inaugural edition.

According to the President of the club Benita Urey the prestigious international pre-season football tournament is set to take place in Sierra Leone from August 18-25.
The Shaita Angels President Benita Urey told FrontPage Africa that the tournament will officially be launched in Kenema, Sierra Leone, with six teams competing.
Host Shaita Angels( Liberia), Kahunla Queen FC (Sierra Leone), Malena Queen FC (Sierra Leone), Koya Queens (Sierra Leone), Raising Queens (Sierra Leone) and Kallon FC (Sierra Leone) are clubs that will participate in this year’s tournament.
The six teams will be divided into two groups and compete in a round-robin format.
The eight days tournament will allow players to experience a good level of competition while exploring their talents.
The tournament is expected to give Football lovers in Sierra Leone the opportunity to witness matches featuring top-tier talents from both Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Urey, a passionate football administrator, said there are bigger plans to make the Careysburg International Cup the biggest tournament in Africa that will promote female football.
She however thanked their new shirt sponsor Bettomax and NEEV-Liberia for their sponsorship in launching the off-season tournament which will help clubs prepare themselves better for the upcoming league season.
He disclosed that the winner of the Careysburg International Cup will walk away with a cash prize of USD 1,000, including a trophy and medals while the second and third-place winners will collect medals and cash prizes as well.
When asked why only one Liberian club is participating in the tournament and is being held out of Liberia Miss Urey said they were looking at the financial difficulties Liberian clubs are faced with.
She added that they had plans of a preseason tour out of Liberia but when they realized that it was not possible they decided to go to Sierra Leone and have matches there and just host the tournament in that part of the world.
Benita informed our sports desk that the second edition will be held in Liberia and may have the male version also.
Meanwhile host Shaita Angels will kick-off their journey in this year’s edition of the Careburgs International 2024 Cup against Koya Queens in game one at 2PM while in game two at 4PM Kallon Football Club and Rising Queens will climax the day’s action.

In another development, Liberia’s premier television Intel Sports has secured broadcast rights to stream this year’s edition of the Careburgs International Cup in Sierra Leone during the tournament.
