Monrovia – The President Nimba FC, alias “Lions of the Mountain,” Sheikh Mustapha Kuyateh, has said he will put the club among the top clubs in Liberia.
Sheikh Mustapha Kuyateh, in an exclusive interview with FrontPageAfrica newspaper said the confidence placed in him by the Chief Executive Officer of Nimba FC, Mr. Melvin Sogbani is a clear manifestation that sons and daughters from Nimba County are together as one people no matter their ethnic backgrounds.
“Nimba FC is not just a football team. It is a team to help reunite our people; it is an instrument to reconcile our people and it is a team that makes Nimba County a county of development,” Kuyateh said.
The team’s boss described his CEO Sogbani as a person, who believes in reconciliation and that his appointment was based on the philosophy of togetherness.
He narrated that he is going to work hand in hand with his Vice President, Ambassador John Yormie and other officials of his team in order for them to help place Nimba FC among the best football clubs not only in Liberian football but also among the most-talk about football teams in African football.
“The main focus of my leadership as president of Nimba FC is how I and other officials can put together ideas that will help to institutionalize the team,” he added.
“We are working on how to put together a team that consists of executive and board members, who can put into place our players’ salaries, their equipment followed by good health care, scholarship program for those of them who are university or high school students. If we can make possible all of these facilities for our players they will deliver the needed results,” he said.
Sheikh Kuyateh described his players’ respond to the team scholarship program as fascinating because they all are serious to go to school, which will help them after football.
“I want for my people of Nimba County and Liberia at large to please understand that the future of this nation’s is today because the sooner we help to better prepare the generation of today the better the future of tomorrow will be and it will not only be for one group of people but for the entire country and its people.” Sheikh Kuyateh called on his team’s head coach, Emmett Glasco, members of his technical staff and players not to be deterred of their current status in the league table but rather to focus their undivided attentions on their remaining games in the league even though they are out of the title race.
