Monrovia– The newly-appointed technical director of the Liberia Tennis Federation (LTF), Alfred Kandakai, has promised to develop upcoming Liberian tennis players if given the support.

The Liberia Tennis Federation recently appointed Kandakai as its new technical director. The appointment announced on 23 August 2024 by the President of the Liberia Tennis Federation will take effect on 1 September 2024, according to the LTF.
A release from the tennis federation said “Mr. Kandakai will oversee the technical aspect of tennis development under the supervision of the head coach.”
Speaking to FrontPage Africa after his appointment, Kandakai said he is grateful for such opportunity to serve his country.
The veteran Tennis coach said he will use his technical knowledge to develop upcoming Liberian tennis players in the next two years. He said there are a lot of raw talents in Liberia that can be developed if they get the right training.
“I have three priorities as technical director of the Liberia Tennis Federation and one is to improve the game of young players, to prepare for the International Tennis Federation tournament, and to have regular training program for the youth teams of Liberia,” Kandakai said.
He thanked the newly-elected president and his executive members for the professional administrative procedure that was put in place for the screening and appointment made.
“I am very happy for the appointment as technical director of the LTF. With the past work experience I have acquired and qualification as a high-performance tennis from Valencia, Spain, I can assure this administration with good results if I am given the required support mentioned in my letter of recommendation from ITF. I believe me and my technical staff can do better to improve the game and develop tennis in Liberia.”
“Tennis can be improved by creating and constant support programs that will serve as supplementary programs to the ITF. The game can improve if the technicians are given the basic support, such as, monthly operational cost to enhance the effective functioning of the technical staff and to create opportunity for its national team players,” he said.
Commenting on the appointment of the head coach of the national team, Kandakai said expressed his gratitude for the appointment, adding the new coach of the national team Winston Wreh has acquired the basic qualification.
Kandakai was first appointed technical Director of the LTF in 2012 and held on to the position up to 2023.
