The company, owned by former Liberia Football Association’s Vice President Anthony Cassell Kouh, has promised to provide a better sponsorship package for the league that will benefit clubs.
Kuoh announced that US$500,000 has been tabled to take over from Orange Liberia, whose sponsorship is expected to expire. Orange- Liberia over the past years has provided US$250, 000 to the country’s football governing body as sponsorship.
In a post on his Facebook page, Cassell Kouh said his intentions to invest in the league so that football can develop.
“Our intent to positively change football in Liberia can’t be overemphasized,”
“In an effort to develop our football and improve our national league to quality and international standard, the New Electric Energy Vehicles (NEEV) wants to sponsor the National League with an estimated amount of 500K, surpassing the current sponsorship.”
Kuoh, who has declared his intention to contest for the presidency of the LFA, said his company is ready to improve the league with the sponsorship to help develop Liberian league and get it on par with other African Countries, because he feels Liberia remains the least in West Africa, but with the help of such a huge sponsorship, football is going to move forward.
If NEEV-LIBERIA becomes an official sponsor, all 42 teams are expected to receive $11,900.00 USD than the current $3,000.00 USD stakeholders are receiving from the Orange-Liberia sponsorship.
Recently, LFA president Mustapha Raji told the media that since the LFA asked stakeholders to go out and look for sponsorship for the league because they complain that the current sponsorship was too small and the FA is yet to get response from the stakeholders.
Meanwhile, sources at the football association said NEEV- Liberia is yet to officially send a communication to LFA with an interest in taking over.
LFA Acting Media Manager Benjamin Gologo Garkpah, said “I might have read this news somewhere along the line but I have no idea where it is coming from.”
He said 500K is a big investment in Liberia football and if any company wants to make such an investment, it won’t be firstly seen on Facebook.
It can be recalled that in June of 2017, the Football Association refused a motivational bonus of US$5,000 to the women’s Under U-17 team offered by Cassell Kouh.
Kouh told reporters at the end of the game on Sunday that he contacted football executives, including two LFA vice presidents, Sekou Konneh and Jodie Seeton about his plans to make the US$5,000 contribution to the team as his way of motivating the players, but he was drilled around by the football executives, especially the 3rd vice president Seaton and the deputy secretary general, before refusing not to respond to his calls.
