Many teams started the league at a slow pace, which may be due to the lack of quality players in their squad. But as the second phase continues, several players have been instrumental in their team’s performance, and one of such players is Moses Cooper, the new recruit of Heaven Eleven FC.
The winger, who joined Heaven Eleven during the mid-season transfer, has proven his worth with excellent performances since joining the “Messengers.”
Moses, a former player of traditional club Mighty Barrolle and Muscat FC, has made a stunning impact at Heaven Eleven FC with the most goals and assists for his club since the restart of the league.
The fast and skilful wide man has scored four goals and provided five assists in six league games while scoring once in the Orange Cup and assisting once.
Cooper put up another classical performance on Tuesday, March 7th, with an assist in his team’s 2-0 win over the Church Boys of Jubilee FC. After a goalless first half in which Moses created several clear-cut chances for his teammates, but they failed to put into use his efforts in the first half, Moses later assisted his team’s opening goal in the second half. Although they were later reduced to ten men, the winger was not deterred and continued to be an obstacle to Jubilee FC.
Moses, who can play as a winger or midfielder, has put himself in the position as a contender for a place on the national team in the coming months and also for the LFA end of the season award.
Speaking to FrontPage Africa, Moses said he feels great playing in Liberia once more and is hoping to end the league as one of the best players. He said assisting again for his club gives him a great feeling because his team struggled during the first phase.
According to him, helping his new club to four wins and two draws shows that his impact is a good run in a move to achieve their goal.
“This team is capable enough to win the league; we have seven games to the end of the league, and if we can win six out of seven, I believe we can win the championship,” Moses said.
“I am here to restart my career. I saw the challenge, and that is why I came back to play here and get it done. I think I am on the right path,” he added.
The talented winger told our reporter that the national league over the years has improved, something that made him return to his country of birth to play in the league.
Before joining Heaven Eleven, Moses had time in Turkish football playing for teams such as Ankaragucu U21, Nallihan Spor, Arifiye Kalayci Spor, Sentepe Spor, Tarim Kredi Spor, Maden Tetkik ve Arama (MTA).
Arab Fofana, head coach of Heaven Eleven, praised Moses for his contribution to the club. Fofana told our reporter that Moses has transformed his team on and off the pitch.
“I think he’s one of our best players since the second phase. Moses is a real team player. He’s the reason for our great run,” Fofana said.
“To have a player with such quality is an addition to your team. He is a great goal scorer and also assists a lot, so we are hoping he keeps up such form,” he added.
