Monrovia – Liberia forward Augustine Otu has joined Merrikh of Sudan after a fantastic season with Watanga FC during the 2020/2021 league season.
The attacker who last played for Watanga has signed a two-year deal with Merrikh football club of Sudan for an undisclosed fee but the deal is believed to be good for both the players his club and Merrikh
Otu who finished the LFA’s 2020/2021 league season as the highest goals scorer with 22-goals bade an emotional farewell to Watanga family on 27th October 2021.
“It’s with a heavy heart to bid farewell to Watanga FC, the club I do cherish so kindly. I would like to wish the club success in her endeavours because of the time spent with my former teammates; surely, I’ll miss you guys”,

“Al Merrikh SC is my new comfort zone now, the Sudanese Forest is now my hunting ground,” Otu said.
Watanga FC has thanked the striker for his be with them and wished him all the best in his new home.
The club urged the player to be a good ambassador of Watagan in Sudan because if he performs well, it will be an opener for more Watanga and Liberian players.
The striker has played for several clubs in Liberia including ELWA United, Nimba United, LPRC Oilers.
He also had a short stay in Kayan with Wazito FC before turning to his motherland.
Merrikh Sporting Club is a Sudanese football club based in Omdurman. Their home stadium is Al-Merrikh Stadium, which is locally known as The Red Castle.
Founded in 1908, Al-Merrikh is one of the oldest football clubs in Africa, and have won the Sudan Premier League 16 times and Sudan Cup 14 times.
The club shares a fierce rivalry with Al-Hilal, the games between them regularly selling out, as well as being the only other realistic challenger to the league crown.
Al-Hilal is also based in Omdurman with only Al-Ardha street separating the teams and between them, they are Sudan’s most powerful and successful football clubs.
