Monrovia – The Captain of Liberia Basketball Association’s (LBA) female division side, K-Delta, has told journalists that her side 21-point triumphed over Vision Angels in the female division league of the LBA shows how focused they are to the title race at the end of the league.
Mireille Sylla’s side K-Delta, crushed Vision Angels 74 points to 53 Saturday, September 7, in the game played at the Sports Commission on Broad Street.
The Captain highlighted that because their main focus is to win the championship, they are not taking any of their opponents for granted and that they will always engage their opponents with concentration.
Says Sylla: “Our opponents we played against today are all physically fit with lot of experience ball control but they lack finishing and the force needed to face us with so we defeated them convincingly. Our victory shows to the rest of our opponents that indeed we are well focused for the title race.”
Sylla called on her fellow players to not be complacent of their first win in the big six competition of the league but they must rather keep on their excellent performances against their opponents in each of their remaining games to come.
The best player and Captain of Vision Angels, Baindu Sonie, blamed their lack of poor finishing for their team’s defeat to K-Delta but added that they learned much from their opponents in that game.
Said Sonie: “We could have made more baskets especially in the third and fourth quarters of the game but the majority of our basket attempts failed because we lacked finishing. Our opponents always overpowered us on the ball because of their height but nevertheless we will do our best in our next games to come.”
In a related development, Heats won 73 points to 66 over Kardinals in the day’s second division clash while Harbel Pointers walked away with free points without touching a ball after Sky Force failed to honor their game.
