MONROVIA — The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), has launched an immediate investigation into allegations of bribery against its Secretary General, Edwin Dolo.
Dolo, who recently published a story about Paynesville FC players being placed on supplementary payroll of the National Legislature, was accused by Spoon FM’s James Goodday Flomo in a Facebook publication of receiving bribes to “kill” the story, an allegation Dolo has denied.
Although the story had been published three days earlier and still on the Liberian Investigator website, Flomo in his post argued that the SWAL Secretary General received bribes to “kill” the story.
The SWAL leadership on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, following a meeting on the matter, unanimously agreed to forward the Secretary General to the Grievance and Ethics committee, headed by SWAL veteran, Ernest McCay for an investigation.
Dolo, while undergoing investigation, will recuse himself from all SWAL activities until the full conclusion of the investigation.
Others who will also be investigated include Okay FM’s Sports Editor, Sylvester Tamba and Freedom FM’s News Director and Sports Editor, Thomas Roulhac.
Meanwhile, the SWAL leadership has called on the committee to be steadfast and thoroughly probe the issue while she assures the public of its commitment to promote integrity and accountability.
