The school’s boys’ football team drew 1-1 with Bassa Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) High School in regular time before narrowly losing 4-3 in a penalty shootout. SDA’s Daniel Wymah scored in the first half, but St. Peter Claver responded in the second with a composed equalizer from Courage Teah, sparking celebration among supporters at the Doris Williams Sports Stadium.
Despite the loss in penalties, the match marked an encouraging comeback for the Catholic institution, which had been out of competitive sports since 2018.
In the kickball match, SDA dominated, securing a 3-0 victory over St. Peter Claver. However, the effort and enthusiasm shown by the returning school have been widely applauded.
Though St. Peter Claver has not yet rejoined the Grand Bassa Inter-School Sports Association (ISSA) League, their participation in the national championship signals a renewed commitment to sports development and student engagement.
The school’s return has generated excitement among students, alumni, and local sports enthusiasts, with expectations high for continued growth and participation in future competitions.
