Coach Kelvin Saygbe’s team, currently sitting second from the bottom and fighting against relegation, struggled against Watanga’s swift counterattacks. Debutant Obediah Freeman delivered an impressive mid-air cross that Roberts skillfully converted from inside the area to give Watanga an early lead.
Roberts was instrumental throughout the match, frequently involved in Watanga’s attacking plays. The midfielder exploited Invincible Eleven’s fragile defense and consistently attacked down the left flank.
Despite controlling the game, Watanga’s coach, Cooper Sonnoh, expressed frustration over his team’s failure to convert several scoring opportunities. Both Roberts and fellow debutant Adolphus Torbor missed significant chances to extend the lead.
Invincible Eleven showed resilience towards the end of the first half and nearly equalized when Kenneth Nah failed to score from a near-post opportunity in the 37th minute, missing another chance just before halftime.
The second half saw Invincible Eleven perform stronger and more impressively, although their finishing remained poor. Coach Saygbe needs to strengthen his squad to avoid relegation from the league. Despite their struggles in front of goal, Invincible Eleven had some decent moments against the champions.
They were denied two penalty appeals: the first for a challenge on Nah in the box, and the second for a handball, which the referee ruled resulted in a free kick—much to Saygbe’s disbelief and anger.
After Invincible Eleven’s missed chances, Watanga took advantage. Roberts, having an outstanding man-of-the-match performance, led a quick counterattack and, with his creativity, set up Zohn, who expertly sealed the match, further frustrating the home side as they searched for an equalizer.
In another match, Heaven Eleven convincingly defeated LISCR FC 3-0 in the late kickoff. James Zortiah opened the scoring, Yaya Bility doubled the lead, and Nick Junior finished off the match.
