Monrovia – The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has signed a landmark sponsorship deal worth 2.7 million Liberian dollars with the Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) for the 2025 season.
The sponsorship is aimed at promoting the sport, with a focus on empowering women and girls who actively participate in Liberia’s traditional sports.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, NLA Director General Reginald Nagbe pledged the authority’s continued support for kickball in Liberia.
He encouraged the LKF leadership to use the funds wisely to improve the sport and also called for more women to be included in the federation’s leadership to address gender disparities.
“We want to see more women taking leadership roles in the Kickball Federation to help balance the representation,” Nagbe said.
Emmanuel Surprise Whea, President of the Liberia Kickball Federation, thanked the NLA for the significant contribution, describing it as a historic milestone for the sport in Liberia.
He acknowledged that kickball has faced numerous challenges, including funding and poor infrastructure, but expressed confidence that the sponsorship would bring positive changes.
“I believe that with the NLA’s support, kickball will thrive, and we call on others to follow this example,” Whea said.
