Addressing the assembly, Raji stressed the importance of equitable financial backing for women’s clubs, emphasizing that they should receive the same level of support as their male counterparts.
He specifically spoke on the $50,000 allocated to men’s clubs during qualifying rounds, urging CAF to extend similar financial assistance to women’s teams.
“We must bolster our women’s teams and ensure they receive the financial backing they deserve,” Raji asserted passionately.
In addition to advocating for women’s football, Raji also addressed the issue of unresolved payments from WAFU A that have impacted Liberia since 2018.
“We have waited long enough. This is not just about finances but about fairness and commitment to developing football in our nations,” he said.
Raji finalized his remarks by expressing gratitude to CAF for its initiatives aimed at capacity-building, which are playing a significant role in transforming African football. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe responded positively, praising Raji for his steadfast dedication and the significant progress he has achieved for football in Liberia.
The assembly’s first day focused on the WAFU A Zonal Union meeting, where Dr. Motsepe met with leaders from WAFU Zone A and member associations to discuss progress and development in African football. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for the commitment of member associations, stating, “Your steadfastness and dedication have been pivotal in steering our vision forward.”
Dr. Motsepe outlined four key pillars guiding CAF’s agenda: Football Development, Administration, Capacity Building, and Competition Management. WAFU President Lamin Kaba Bajo also expressed gratitude to members for their hard work and dedication during the meeting.
The LFA delegation includes General Secretary Emmett Crayton, Executive Committee Member Cyrus Yeanay, and FC Bea Mountain President Ben Davis.
