Monrovia – The Liberia Football Association 2023 Awards Committee has released the names of qualified candidates in each of the different award categories ahead of the voting process.
According to the Chairperson of the committee, Cllr. Cole Bangalu, the awards ceremony to determine the best performers of the 2022-23 league season will take place on October 6, 2023. Speaking at a news conference held at the LFA Headquarters today, Chairman Cole Bangalu stated that the nomination process was largely successful, except for five invalid submissions.
“The nomination process was successfully carried out, but there were five invalid submissions. These submissions were invalidated because the individuals who supported them failed to provide their particulars, including names and club names. They simply sent blank forms, which made it impossible for us to track,” Chairman Bangalu explained.
He further highlighted another case involving two or three clubs whose submissions were voided because they lacked the legal rights to participate in the nomination process.
Meanwhile, committee member Elizabeth Nyanibo disclosed the names of qualified candidates for voting in various categories, including 1st, 2nd, and Upper Divisions MVPs, male and female Best Defenders, and male and female Best Referee.
The Committee has announced that the dates for voting and closure will be announced soon. Clubs’ captains, coaches, and journalists will be responsible for picking up the final voting forms to select the candidates they believe should be honored at the 2023 LFA Awards.
