Monrovia – More than 50 coaches from the Orange National First Division League, the second division, including grassroots coaches, are expected to converge in Paynesville City for the 1st GOGo-Fit-Camp workshop. The workshop, which will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the SKD Practice Pitch, is aimed at training coaches on issues affecting their players. It is also intended to bring together top coaches from all over the country to develop new strategies to amplify the issues around player fitness.
GOGo-Fit-Camp is a non-profit organization that trains coaches, players, trainers, and young people seeking to keep their bodies fit. It was founded in 2015 by two Liberians based in the United States of America with the intention of training more people on how to keep themselves fit and fight sicknesses in their bodies.
This year’s workshop, the first in Liberia, will be held under the theme “Your fitness matters; fitness begins with you.” Speaking to reporters on Monday, January 1, 2024, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel G. Kollie, said he realized that more young people in Liberia need fitness to distress themselves.
“We realize that the coaches are important stakeholders in training more young people. We will, therefore, gather on this Thursday to set the stage for such an achievement,” he said.
He also disclosed that since their arrival in the country in December of last year, the group trained over 44 football clubs ranging from the first division to grassroots clubs. He disclosed that GOGO-Fit-Camp will hold a training session for old folks and young people in other parts of the country in December of this year, including Grand Bassa, Bomi, Bong, Margibi, and others.
