Kouh, the former Vice President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), recently acquired FC Kallon Liberia, rebranding the club as Fassell FC after a seven-year absence from football. In July, he revealed plans to build a mini-stadium that will serve as the official home for his club, nicknamed the Missionaries.
Over the weekend, photos circulated on social media showing Mr. Kouh alongside football experts from Europe at a site in Liberia, which is reportedly the future home of Fassell FC. The experts’ role at the site was to conduct geotechnical assessments necessary for the project’s successful start.
On Monday, Kouh confirmed the development via his Facebook page, stating, “Yesterday, we had some engagements at the site where the mini-stadium is expected to be built. We brought in some geotechnical engineers to test the quality of the soil for the stadium construction, as required by standards. The test was conducted yesterday.”
At a press conference in July, Kouh disclosed that the stadium project is valued at US$4.5 million, with an initial investment of US$650,000. The proposed location for the stadium is in Marshall, on the outskirts of Monrovia. According to Kouh, construction is expected to take approximately eight months, and the facility will include a main pitch, a mini-seating capacity, bathrooms, and home-and-away locker rooms, with additional features to comply with CAF/FIFA standards on safety, performance, and durability.
“We are currently focusing on the playing pitch and a mini-seating capacity, as part of efforts to host our home games in Marshall. The entire project is valued at US$4.5 million,” said CEO Kouh.
If completed, Fassell FC will become the second Liberian club to own its own stadium, following Nimba United FC. The now-defunct Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) were another club that owned a stadium, which helped them win over ten trophies.
Fassell FC’s stadium plans are seen as a positive contribution to Liberian football, addressing the limited venues available for league matches. Since taking over the club, Kouh has made significant investments, hiring a foreign head coach and signing notable players, including former Liberian internationals Solomon Grimes and Zah Krangar, along with a Gambian goalkeeper and two Moroccan players. The team is currently in Egypt for pre-season training, a rare occurrence for Liberian clubs in recent years.
Since returning to Liberia from the United States, Kouh has been committed to philanthropy. Known as “Tim Borrol,” he was sentenced in 2017 to seven years in prison for his involvement in an investment fraud scheme related to gold and diamonds, which defrauded victims of more than US$9.5 million. Released in 2023, Kouh has demonstrated a commitment to positive change and giving back to the community.
